In an age where the church is bombarded with every wind of doctrine, where false teachers peddle their wares in the marketplace of men's souls, and where compromise has become the currency of "unity," the Lord's voice still thunders through the prophet Isaiah:

"Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price."
— Isaiah 55:1 (KJV)

This is not merely an invitation—it is a divine rescue operation for those who have grown sick from drinking at the poisoned wells of this present age.

The Draught of Demons

The Apostle Paul warned the Corinthians: "Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils" (1 Corinthians 10:21, KJV). Yet how many today attempt this very impossibility? They seek to quench their spiritual thirst at broken cisterns while claiming allegiance to Christ.

The "draught of demons" manifests in many forms in our modern church landscape:

  • The prosperity gospel that promises health and wealth while denying the necessity of the cross

  • The hyper-charismatic excesses that elevate experience above Scripture

  • The social gospel that replaces regeneration with reformation

  • The seeker-sensitive movement that waters down truth to tickle ears

  • Ecumenical compromise that sacrifices doctrine on the altar of false unity

These are not mere differences of opinion—they are poisoned waters that sicken the soul and lead to spiritual death.

The True Waters: Pure, Free, Abundant

Against this backdrop of contaminated streams, God's invitation rings with breathtaking clarity. He offers waters that are:

Pure — Untainted by human philosophy or demonic deception

Free — "Without money and without price," not earned by works or purchased by religious performance

Abundant — "Wine and milk," rich satisfaction for every spiritual hunger and thirst

But notice the condition: "Come ye to the waters." You must leave the polluted streams. You cannot drink deeply of God's truth while sipping from the world's cup. You cannot feast at His table while entertaining demons' doctrines.

The Urgent Summons: Seek While He May Be Found

The prophet continues with solemn urgency:

"Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon."
— Isaiah 55:6-7 (KJV)

This is not a call to religious modification—it is a summons to radical repentance. "Let the wicked forsake his way" means abandoning not just gross sin, but every path that deviates from God's revealed Word. "Let the unrighteous man his thoughts" demands the surrender of our own wisdom, our own interpretations, our own comfort-seeking theology.

The false teacher says, "God's ways are your ways; His thoughts are your thoughts; He exists to affirm you."

But Scripture thunders back:

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts."
— Isaiah 55:8-9 (KJV)

The Choice Before You

You stand today at a crossroads. Behind you lie the broken cisterns of modern Christianity—the entertainment-driven megachurches, the prophecy-peddling charlatans, the doctrine-denying compromisers, the tradition-enshrining formalists who have a form of godliness but deny the power thereof.

Before you flows the pure river of God's Word—ancient, tested, sufficient, powerful.

Are you sick yet? Sick of the shallow teaching? Sick of the manufactured emotionalism? Sick of the man-centered gospel? Sick of partaking in the draught of demons?

Then hear the gracious call: "Come ye to the waters."

Return to the Old Paths

"Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls."
— Jeremiah 6:16 (KJV)

The answer is not found in the latest church growth strategy or the newest prophetic revelation. It is found in the old, old story—the Gospel of Jesus Christ, crucified for sinners, risen for our justification, exalted as Lord of all.

It is found in sound doctrine, carefully guarded and faithfully proclaimed.

It is found in the historic confessions of faith that our fathers sealed with their blood.

It is found in churches that still preach "Thus saith the Lord" rather than "Thus saith the latest poll."

The Promise: Abundant Pardon

And here is the glorious promise: "He will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon."

No matter how long you've drunk from poisoned wells, no matter how deeply you've been deceived, no matter how far you've wandered—there is mercy. There is pardon. There is abundant forgiveness for all who truly come.

But you must come on His terms, not yours.

You must come to His waters, not the world's.

You must come now, while He may be found.

Doctrine Matters

This is why doctrine matters. This is why we cannot compromise. This is why we must earnestly contend for the faith once delivered to the saints.

The stakes are not mere theological preference—they are eternal destinies.

"Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters."

Will you come?

"Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths"
— Jeremiah 6:16 (KJV)
